Atharv’s Chronicle 22-12-2024 “Don’t Break The Chain”

"Don't BREAK THE CHAIN"

Hello People!

Welcome to this edition of my newsletter!

I am back after a break, Life was so overwhelming in the last couple of months and I was busy embracing the few of the firsts in my life. a couple of months were put into Home construction and a couple of months for my marriage. Got to experience life in all possible dimensions and emotions in the last couple of months. Utterly Grateful (more of this in another post)

and since writing this newsletter has become my hobby, I was restless without writing it!
Though not many people anticipated it, I wanted to publish this on a weekly basis for myself! (Because I’m committed to this hobby)
I write this for myself and of course, few of you also look for it. I basically just want to document my thoughts and also the photos!

Now, since I took a couple of weeks/months of break, it’s very easy for me to skip this and it wouldn’t matter to many people!
But I don’t want to miss it and I want to keep this going!

Hence I am writing this newsletter and sharing it with you guys after a break!
Today’s topic is going to be about this hobby

Missing it once is fine
Missing it twice is okay
Missing it in a row is not okay
and don’t accept a defeat when you miss it by a small margin or because of a genuine need!

It’s applicable for anything in life
We often get dejected when things don’t go in our favour or when things don’t look or work like how we anticipated them to be!
But in reality, everything happens for a reason and we should be smart enough to understand this and empathetic enough to not to lose hope or the momentum with respect to whatever we are doing!

Never break a Habit chain which you have built over a long run
And its very easy to skip for second time when you have done it first time
It goes with a cricket philosophy – ”The best time to get a next wicket is just after the previous wicket is down”

Everything goes in life with momentum
If you keep the momentum going, you will be running the show
But If you break the momentum for something, it’s very easy to break the flow and it can fall to any level at times.
Even if you can’t give your 100%, Lower the intensity and do the task, but to not break the chain and don’t break the momentum, try to keep it going!
For example,
I couldn’t write a newsletter for 2-3 weeks due to overwhelming tasks in those weeks!
That’s it and now I am publishing it after four months
staggering 4 months break
It’s just because I broke the momentum
I was extremely busy in those two-three weeks where I couldn’t sit and write it
But I should admit that other times I could have published, but I didn’t!
Even If I had written something very small and published, I would have kept the momentum going! – But I didn’t!
So here again, I am restarting it and I will try to not break this chain again.
it’s very important for me to keep this momentum going and not break the chain!

Same goes with everything
I have kept the momentum of closing my rings on my iwatch (450 Calories/Day, 30 mins Exercise/Day, 6Hrs/Stand Goal)
Since 371 days, I make sure to close all 3 rings for the day
Yes, On the days when I get busy and can’t complete my usual targets
I reduce the goals for the day, which are easy to complete so as to not break the chain.

My Longest Move streak of 371 days ended on 29th October as I missed wearing my watch for 3 days during my Marriage.
I started immediately after that and currently have a 48 days streak!

The psychological feeling after a win, when our mind releases happy hormones is priceless.
So never break a chain and learn to embrace all phases of life.

I hope you gained some insights from reading this! Embrace your different roles with the right mindset, and watch your life transform. See you next week!

Quote of the week 💬

Simplify. What can be done in three steps should never be done in four. Each link in the chain is a potential breaking point. Fewer links means fewer chances of failure.”

Learning of the Week 📝

Maintaining momentum is crucial in building habits. When challenges arise, it’s better to reduce intensity than completely stop. Breaking a chain once makes subsequent breaks easier. Like a domino effect, maintaining consistency, even at a lower level, is more valuable than perfection.

Book/Blog I am reading currently: 📚

I am actively not reading any book/blog. Need to restart this hobby as well!

But I keep reading the newsletters from my favourite creators.

My Week in Pictures! 📸

In this section, I share my week in pictures, for those who prefer pictures over text.

I view this part as a combination of journaling and a visual diary of my personal experiences. My days often follow a repetitive pattern, yet each experience brings a unique perspective.
