“PARADOX OF CHOICES!”
Welcome to this edition of my newsletter!
In life, we get to make lot of choices!
From the point we wake up to the point of switching off the light before sleep.
We get to make hundreds of choices
Many decisions are automatic as few are sub consciously wired and few are because of limited choices.
For example,
1. We don’t get to choose which toothbrush to use as there is only one at home
2. We don’t have an option to choose the room we want to sleep everyday as there is only one bedroom but we get confused to choose which hotel room to book (suite, deluxe, comfy, luxury etc) when we are going for holidays.
3. You don’t get to choose which uniform to wear it for school but often get confused to decide what to wear for party when you have 25 shirts and 15 pants.
4. We don’t get to choose our parents, but we get to choose our life partner and people go crazy in search of them.
Imagine if there are no other options present
what would be your course of choice?
Whenever there are number of options present in front of us, it gets difficult to know which is best for us!
We make choices as per the convenience, as per the availability of resources.
and we want to choose the best always because we think the best choice results in best experience. but having too many options limits our freedom.
learning to choose it hard and learning to choose well is harder.
How to evaluate if you have made a good choice!
it should free you – Simple!
also there is nothing as such as good choice or a bad choice
You have to make a decision/take a choice and then make it right
You can’t really have everything learned/ sorted out before taking a choice
it’s not fully possible, there are many examples
-You will understand what is the requirements of married life only after getting married!
-You will understand the mechanics of sports car only after driving it
-You will experience the beauty of some place only after being there
At first, you need to make a choice and then learn the ‘in and outs’ of it through iterations and then only you can make the best out of it!
Yes, one should agree, there are instances where you can make a good choice by proper analysis, proper research and so on, but whatever it is, You can make the best choice only after experiencing it, so be open for new opportunities, new choices!
Life is all about how many choices you have taken, how many new experiences you have gone through.
Coming to everyday life
You can use the following techniques to overcome the paradox of choices syndrome
1. Limit your choices intentionally : The more you see, the merrier they seem and it increases your time to make a decision. limit it as much as possible!
2. Define your priorities : If you can just tell yourself with clarity, what exactly is needed for you, you can make a choice easily!
3. Make Good enough decisions : Instead of searching for the *absolute best*, pick an option that meets your core requirements. stick to your core values and If you go on making good enough decisions, over the time you have developed a strong intuition to make a great decisions.
4. Set the time limit for decision : This works like a gem, You set a time limit to make a decision, for example, set a timer for 5 minutes, and tell yourself – I got just 5 minutes to choose what to wear for today’s party, hurry up! – the sense of urgency really helps!
5. Automate small decisions : Wherever you can automate your decisions, make use of it. for example – You can create a exercise plan for whole week and just follow it!
6. Reduce looking for too many options : The more choices you see, the harder it becomes to pick, for example : Avoid reading too many reviews on shopping apps when you are buying something!
7. Accept that no choice is perfect : Every decision has trade-offs, and that’s okay. Instead of wondering “What if?”, focus on making the most of what you chose.
I hope you gained some insights from reading this! See you next week!

My Week in Pictures! 📸
In this section, I share my week in pictures, for those who prefer pictures over text.
I view this part as a combination of journaling and a visual diary of my personal experiences. My days often follow a repetitive pattern, yet each experience brings a unique perspective.
Bit different this time!
I am getting comfortable without pictures!
so let it be without images and I will see how it goes!
