“From Twin Towers to Infinity Pools: Malaysia in 7 Days”

❤️
“In my last newsletter, I shared the drama of my first international trip – the lost baggage, the relief, the reflections. read here – FIRST FLIGHT ABROAD, COUNTLESS MEMORIES WITHIN!
But that was just half the story. Here’s the other half – a day-by-day travel diary of Malaysia.”
This one has everything: Batu Caves, infinity pools, city lights, duty-free chocolates, Grab taxis, ferry rides, island vibes, and yes… even a successful refund of our “lost 4 ringgits” 😅.
So here we go 👇
Day 2 : Overslept but Overjoyed
After two days of sleep deprivation, we woke up around 11 AM – successfully missing hotel breakfast 🙃. But the day had big plans for us.
We started with the colorful Batu Caves, then strolled through Central Market and bargained at Petaling Street. On the way to KLCC via metro, we lost 4 Malaysian ringgits to a faulty ticketing machine. (Yes, I raised a complaint – a typical Indian doesn’t let go that easily 😅)
By evening, we stood mesmerized in front of the Petronas Twin Towers. Honestly, we were just lost staring at them. At night, the KLCC Symphony Lake water show sparkled, the city lights glowed everywhere, and street food sealed the day with memories.
Day 3 : Pools, Pictures & A Bus Ride
We spent the morning at the infinity pool – truly one of the highlights of the trip. Refreshed, we checked out and continued exploring.
Got used to the city’s travel connectivity – travelled via scheduled trains – We returned to Batu Caves (because once is not enough when the place looks that good in pictures). Then some city shopping at Chinatown, explored Buddha Temple, Muttu Mariamman temple, and finally the buzzing vibes of Bukit Bintang – bright lights, crowds, and food everywhere.
By night, we collected our luggage, boarded an overnight bus to Kuala Perlis, and the city slowly faded away.
Day 4 : Hello, Langkawi!
We reached Kuala Perlis early morning, then hopped on a one-hour ferry to Langkawi Island. took a grab to hotel (to be honest – connectivity through grab is really good and it delivers food as well)
The hotel? Out of words. Great amenities, mesmerizing views, and food that made us stay in most of the day. We enjoyed the views, relaxed, and in the evening, rented a bike.
We rode to the most happening Cenang Beach, watched a fire show, and tried Thai food for the first time. Sorry Thailand lovers, but we couldn’t eat it – Cup noodles rescued us back at the hotel. A chill but an unforgettable day.
Day 5 : Cable Car – Sky Bridge , Temples & Spice
This day was action-packed. We biked to the famous Cable Car & Sky Bridge of Langkawi, where we experienced every weather – hot, humid, foggy, rainy. thoroughly enjoyed it – hiked a bit – got to see some great landscapes and spectacular views.
Riding a two wheeler in the foreign city enjoying the clean, scenic views – that feeling was amazing! – We roamed the island, covering outskirts, villages, and even stopped at Buddhist, Hindu, and the Lucky Temple. By evening, we were back at the hotel’s Spice Garden restaurant – delicious food + spectacular view.
The day ended with another dip in the infinity pool with ocean and mountain views, under the night sky. Truly, wow.
Day 6 : Slow Mornings & Shopping Sprees
We had grand plans for island-hopping. But the bed was too cozy, and we decided the day before itself that waking up early wasn’t happening 😂.
So instead, we had a slow morning, enjoyed the infinity pool again (could never get enough of it), checked out, and headed for shopping. Langkawi is duty-free, and you can guess what that means – tons of chocolates!
We missed a ferry at 5PM, Which led us to spend a evening at Eagle Square (Dataran Lang) – serene sunset, ocean breeze, and a calm goodbye to Langkawi. From there, a ferry back to Kuala Perlis at 7PM, and another overnight bus back to Kuala Lumpur.
Day 7 : A Proper Goodbye
Arrived in KL at dawn. Booked a hotel for half a day, rested, had breakfast, and then stepped out for one final look at the city.
We returned to KLCC, this time for a day view of the Twin Towers. And wow, equally stunning as the night view. We even found the perfect angle near the Public Bank side. Ice creams in hand, we soaked in the moment.
And just before leaving, victory struck – remember the 4 ringgits we lost to the metro machine? We got it back! (they were kind enough to call me on my whatsapp number that I can collect the amount) Happy closure moment of the trip!
With that small win, we collected our luggage, headed to the airport, and said goodbye to Malaysia – a country of skyscrapers, beaches, islands, temples, city lights, and memories.
Final Reflections
This trip had everything – chaos, beauty, food, sunsets, friendships, city lights, and lessons. It wasn’t just a vacation, it was an experience. More than that, it was a dream come true for that little kid in me who once looked up at airplanes and wished to fly internationally. He’d be proud today!
That’s a wrap on The Malaysia Diaries. A story of missed breakfasts, lost baggage, city lights, infinity pools, and little wins.
See you in the next one 👋
