Atharv’s Chronicle 15-02-2025 “DEFINE YOUR CULTURE!”

“DEFINE YOUR CULTURE!”

Welcome to this edition of my newsletter!

Culture is something which we have defined for ourselves by repeating a set of activities over a long run
Culture is through which we live our life
So, it’s our responsibility to define the great culture in order to lead a great life and also to lay down a great future to the next generation!

We humans have defined our culture by repeating a set of activities.
There are many activities we perform everyday and repeating these activities over a long run defines our culture.
for example, Brushing Teeth, Taking Bath, Praying to God, Watching Television, Reading Books, Taking decisions, Loving somebody, Driving, Reproduction, Sports etc
These are the general activities which distinguish the humans from other species

Similarly you can define the new culture for the new identity you want to become by simply following a set of activities which are followed by group of people who are having similar goal of becoming that identity

For example,
1. All Marathon runners have the habit of practising Running everyday – Running is their culture.
2. All Chess Grandmasters have the habit of playing chess everyday – Playing chess is their culture.
3. All UPSC toppers have the habit of reading and practicing writing everyday – Reading and Practicing writing is their culture.
4. All Fit people have the habit of exercising or walking everyday – Exercising is their culture.
5. All Rich people have the habit of investing – Investing is their culture.
6. Great painters have the habit of practising painting everyday – Painting is their culture.
7. Saying Namaste is India’s culture while giving the firm handshake is the greeting culture followed worldwide.

I know, It sounds simple, but culture can only be formed by repeating a set of activities over and over again and monitoring them consistently for Weeks, Months, Years, Decades and sometimes generations.
“Change monitored and Sustained for long enough will become a culture”

Taking a resolution to start a new hobby is easy
Implementing is also easy
converting it into a hobby is bit difficult and
converting it into a culture is even more difficult
In order to define the culture

Bring a change → Monitor it → Make it a habit → Sustain that habit over a period of time → it becomes a culture.
Beginning anything is always easy because of that excitement!
if you find it difficult to stick to it – find a very good accountability partner
and remember winners don’t give excuses and they got that zeal for achievement!
We need to have that heightened emotional quotient to stick to something we started and to keep it going – I always love this quote from my mentor Subramanya Kuledu sir
“When you don’t stand for something,
You can fall for anything!”

Don’t make it a habit to pick up a habit and drop it in between!
Make it a culture to stick to whatever you start
When it has become your culture , it’s very easy to stick to it as it is subconsciously wired
you really have the least amount of failure/Not showing up behaviour!

In mid of 2023, I decided to have a healthy and active lifestyle (which was a desired Identity)
– My goal was to simply hit 10k steps a day (later modified to 7.5k steps a day) and
– To workout for 3-4 times in a week and
– To walk wherever possible instead of taking an elevator and
– To Eat healthy as much as possible
– And From Jan 2025, I started doing minimum 24 pushups everyday and I’m doing pretty good

2024 Steps Count

So I started doing these sets of activities consistently which became my hobbies and I sustained those hobbies over a long run and it became my culture to lead a active and healthy lifestyle!
I just associated the act of exercising with the identity I wanted to become and Yaay, I defined a culture for myself!

and it’s a quick reminder for myself to start my gym workouts again!

Finally, If you get your culture right – you can get anything right in life
A right culture can make you a legend and leave a legacy behind!

I hope you gained some insights from reading this, See you next week!

You can fall for anything!” – Subramanya Kuledhu

Learning of the Week 📝

If you are finding it difficult to complete few tasks which you always wanted to complete –

Try scheduling a particular time for it on your calendar and it really helps!

Book/Blog I am reading currently: 📚

I almost completed reading Atomic habits by James Clear – there are many learnings and few of my future newsletters will be from this book’s learning!

My Week in Pictures! 📸

In this section, I share my week in pictures, for those who prefer pictures over text.

I view this part as a combination of journaling and a visual diary of my personal experiences. My days often follow a repetitive pattern, yet each experience brings a unique perspective.

Bit different this time!

I suffer from paradox of choices, I take a lot of time to choose the images and write captions!

so let it be without images and I will see how it goes!
