WHAT GETS MEASURED, GETS IMPROVED!
In whatever areas of our life
If we can measure the changes or difference or any attribute associated with respect to the task at hand, we will be able to understand What’s going right and What’s not going right
When we have these metrics, will be easily able to figure out How to make the process/ outcome much better over the time!
Say if we want to become better at time management
If we can just track down the daily activities and time spent on each activity throughout a day for a week
We have all the data we need
Where we are spending time – how much of it is spent aimlessly
Where we need to focus
what we need to stop doing
What we need to cut out
What we need to prioritise and all that
I use this philosophy to manage my personal finance very much
Even before I started earning, I developed a hobby to track down all my expenses on a daily basis and analyse the metrics during month end.
This has helped me immensely to have a control over my personal finance, it helps me plan my monthly budget, helps me understand how much I am currently having, how much is needed, where I am spending extra, where I need to cut down, where should I invest, what is the budget for my next shopping/ vacation etc etc (More on this finance thingy some other day)
Basically I apply this principle wherever I want to take control of it!
This same philosophy works well for anything
– You want to lose weight
– You want to become consistent in working out
– You want to get better at personal finance
– You want to get better at communication
– You want to start creating content and share it with the world
– You want to cut down your phone usage
– You want to become more organised.
– You want to improve your relationships.
The key is consistency in tracking and analysing the relevant metrics. By doing so, we not only gain clarity but also empower ourselves to take purposeful actions that lead to noticeable improvements.
We can apply the principle in following way
1. Clearly define your goal (What you want to achieve)
2. Identify Key Metrics aligned with your goals
3. Track it for several days consistently
4. Review the data → identify patterns, and make necessary changes
5. Continuously iterate based on your findings make incremental improvements
You will start to understand the metrics consciously and Your sub-conscious mind starts to figure out things accordingly!
As we engage in this measuring the progress journey, we can expect something remarkable to happen over the time.
Our conscious mind actively processes the data, which helps in making informed decisions and taking purposeful actions. Simultaneously, in the background our subconscious mind absorbs these insights, gradually aligning our thoughts, behaviours, and habits with our desired outcomes. This dual awareness speeds up our progress and helps us grow and achieve desired results.
In conclusion, the saying “What gets measured, gets improved!” stands as a timeless truth in all aspects of life.

Quote of the week 💬
“Don’t be fooled by the calendar. There are only as many days in the year as you make use of.” – Charles Richards
Learning of the Week 📝
“The problem is not the absence of knowing what to do, but the absence of doing it.”
- Knowledge is no longer power, as it can be acquired in no time.
- True power lies in taking action.
